Simple "patching" can mean that old conditions return fast.

As with any refinishing project, preparation is key. The most important elements of good preparation are the use of a factory-made, water-resistant basecoat and heavy "mesh" at cracks and deteriorated areas prior to color application. Simple "patching" means that the old conditions will return fairly fast. "Acrylic-modifiers" (bonding agents) in the new color-coat ensure proper bonding and hardening, and wetting the stucco after it dries on the wall is needed. In Albuquerque's dry climate this is a crucial step. We call it "follow-up."
